Vytas Velyvis, PhD, CBT Program Director & Instructor
VytasVelyvis, PhD, received his training in clinical psychology at York University, and he has worked as a clinician, teacher, researcher, and administrator in a wide variety of mental health inpatient and outpatient settings for more than 20 years. He has published a number of journal articles and book chapters mostly focused on psychosocial interventions in Bipolar Disorder, Wellness, and Recovery. He is a member of Psychosocial Rehabilitation Canada’s Research Steering Committee and the Collaborative Research Team to Study Psychosocial Issues in Bipolar Disorder (CREST.BD).

Elaine Ash, MSW, RSW, SFT Program Instructor
Elaine has spent much of her career working with children, adolescents, and families. She has been employed by Trillium Health Partners: Credit Valley Hospital Site for the past 13 years as a social worker in the Out-patient Child and Family Services Department. She has been an active participant and trainer on the Solution Focused Family Therapy team, a program offered within the Out-patient service. More recently, Elaine has turned some of her attention to the area of training, providing solution focused therapy training to a number of agencies and organizations. She also provides training in the area of Attachment and Adoption Integration and well as providing training to foster parents working Key Assets, a foster care company in Mississauga, Ontario.
Mike Coons, PhD, CBT Program Instructor
Dr. Coons received his PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Waterloo. In 2013, Dr. Coons accepted positions as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto, and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychology at York University. His expertise is in the implementation of cognitive behavioural interventions for the treatment of obesity and weight management, psychosocial adjustment to chronic diseases, adherence to health behaviours for chronic disease prevention and management, and insomnia and related behavioural sleep issues.

Kim Daniel, PhD, CBT Program Instructor
Dr. Daniel received her PhD from McGill University, and she completed her predoctoral internship at Surrey Place Centre in Toronto, working with individuals with differing developmental disabilities. She completed a postdoctoral clinical fellowship at Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children, working in the Paediatric Clinical/Health Psychology and Behavioural Medicine Division with both in-patients and out-patients. At CBT Associates, she providesCBT for children, adolescents, adults, and families who are dealing with grief and loss, health issues, anxiety, depression, OCD, stress, bullying, relationship issues and other difficulties. Dr. Daniel continues to work in the hospital (HSC), community centre (SPC) and provides consultation work for differing schools within Ontario.

Vivien Lee, PhD, CBT Program Instructor
Vivien received her PhD from the University of Western Ontario, and she completed her pre-doctoral residency in the London Clinical Psychology Residency Consortium. She has worked in hospitals, psychiatric settings, chronic pain programs, and community clinics. AT CBT Associates she provides treatment for adults and adolescents with trauma / PTSD, mood and anxiety disorders, and anger management. Dr. Lee’s research has examined the effects of trauma on development, violence prevention, and parent–child interactions, and has received funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.

Marc Levi, PhD
Dr. Levi received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from York University in 2004. He is a licensed psychologist registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario with a focus on clinical and forensic/correctional psychology. Prior to joining OntarioShores, Dr. Levi was employed at the Ontario Correctional Institute from 2000 to 2004 where he provided group and individual psychotherapy as well as completed pre-parole risk assessments for the Ontario Parole Board. At present, Dr. Levi works in the Forensic Outpatient Service where he conducts risk assessments utilizing actuarial methods, structured clinical judgment, and an appraisal of dynamic risk factors.

Leah Zalan, PhD, CBT Program Instructor
Leah received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from York University, and completed her predoctoral training at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, working with individuals with mood and anxiety disorders, as well as borderline personality disorder. She currently works in private practice at CBT Associates, where she provides treatment for adults with mood and anxiety disorders, self-esteem and relationship issues, and other interpersonal and stress-related difficulties. She provides dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) and mindfulness-based treatments, as well as couple's therapy. She also has a diverse array of teaching experiences, ranging from presenting at workshops for professionals to undergraduate teaching at York University.
